FAQ

Question about cost of services, insurance claims, and the typical timeframe for restoration projects.

What Can I Expect?

If you have standing water in your home or a commercial property, it is worth to call us in the middle of the night as we would like to start on the water extraction as soon as possible. If you don’t have any standing water and the source of the water is shut off, call us in the morning. We will assess the damage, provide you with a quote, and create a plan to start on our mitigation as soon as possible.

Common Locations Inside the Home:

🔹 1. Basement or Crawl Space

  • Look near the front wall of the house, especially where the water meter or line enters from the street.

  • Often near the water heater or furnace.

🔹 2. Utility Room or Laundry Room

  • If you don’t have a basement, check where your water heater or HVAC equipment is — often it’s nearby.

🔹 3. Garage (in slab foundation homes)

  • In warmer climates with no basements, it may be mounted on the wall inside the garage.

🔹 4. Under the Kitchen Sink (rare for main, but common for individual shutoffs)

  • This is usually an individual shutoff for the kitchen faucet, not the main.

🚪Outside the Home:

  • In some cases, especially in older homes or warmer states, the main shutoff is outside — near an outdoor spigot or in a meter box close to the curb.

🔧 What It Looks Like:

  • A round wheel-style valve or a lever-style handle.

  • Turning it clockwise (right) closes it (off), counterclockwise opens it (on).

If you have any standing water, we will arrive in the next 1-2 hours. If you don’t have any standing water, only water damage, we will arrive based on agreed schedule within the next 24 hours.

There is a critically limited time window, often much shorter than one might expect, before mold begins to establish itself, grow, and ultimately disperse its spores into the air. Once this process starts, it can rapidly transform your home into a potentially hazardous environment, compromising not only your air quality but also your overall health and well-being. Mold thrives in damp and dark conditions, and if immediate action is not taken to address water leaks, humidity, or any other underlying moisture issues, it can proliferate quickly, leading to serious health risks. Therefore, it is imperative to act swiftly at the first sign of moisture or water damage, ensuring that your living space remains safe and healthy for you and your loved ones. Viking Restoration is certified in both mold mitigation and water remediation.

  1. Shut off the source of water if possible.
  2. Contact us. You can call or text 303-717-9658
  3. If the source of water was plumbing, call a plumber to address the issue AND to provide you a report for your insurance claim as the cause of the damage.
  4. If the source of water was a roof damage, call a roofer to address it and provide you with a report.
  5. Contact your insurance agency to file a claim. We will need your claim contact and number.
  6. Start planning to rebuild.

Stop any work around the affected area. Do NOT pour any liquid on it such as bleach, vinegar, or hydrogen peroxide. All liquid materials cause the mold spores to release in the air. Contact us to schedule consultation – call or text 303-717-9658.

A lot depends on the scope of your water restoration scope. Let’s say your upstairs plumbing failed and water leaked to the main floor and your basement. If your basement is finished, you may experience about one day of cutting affected drywall on all affected floors, removal of carpet or carpet pad (we can save carpet), removal of flooring, and other water-saturated materials not worth saving.
